British historian Ian Mortimer has written two very popular history books with a unique time-travel perspective::
The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England: A Handbook for Visitors to the Fourteenth Century
The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England
I'm gathering information and writing about unintentional time travel to the Inca Empire in the 1480s. I'm sure that Mortimer's books will have many ideas on travel to any pre-industrial society. Just the tables of contents should suggest many areas of concern.
